Amber tones from oxidative oak ageing. Nutty and caramel, with dried fruit, hazelnut, butterscotch and mocha. Aged four years in oak, complex and full on the palate.

Socalcos da Carris takes its name from the socalcos, the hand-built schist terraces that step down toward the Douro river and give the region both its dramatic shape and its wines their mineral spine. Working these steep, machine-proof slopes with native Portuguese grapes, the label reflects a corner of the Douro that has long been prized for the intensity its old stone vineyards can carry.
