Native grapes on old schist vines give it dark fruit and a savory, stony backbone, polished by a short rest in French oak. Give it half an hour in the glass and it keeps opening up.

Socalcos da Carris takes its name from the socalcos, the hand-built schist terraces that step down to the Douro river. The old vines grow where machines cannot reach, so every row is tended by hand, the way this valley has farmed for generations.
